Dear Upper Room Theatre Family,
What a rollercoaster the last few months has been! We continue to pray that you and your loved ones are well, especially during these challenging times. We are continually grateful to have you as part of our Upper Room Theatre family!
Our souls long for community and a human connection, which is why our shows are such a joyful experience for both us and our patrons. There is something very special that is created when we all come together to share powerful stories and messages. That’s why we absolutely cannot wait to share our magic again with you very soon.
An Impact Far Beyond Our Stage...
Did you know? The funds raised from our summer musical are critically important to our entire year of youth ministry programming. Because of our summer musical we can….send teens on retreats & mission trips…have young adult outreach… perform service projects in our region…provide community and volunteer opportunities for hundreds of people…plus support over 290+ other activities we host throughout a typical year. This all provides extremely meaningful opportunities to the teens we reach!
Fortunately we have seen the Northern Virginia region slowly trending in the right direction. However, with the uncertainty of phased re-openings and what restrictions will exist this summer (masks, social distancing, limited capacity), we must balance the large budget (and timeline) it takes to produce our summer musicals…along with the risk of theaters being unable to fully open their doors by July. And as always, the health and safety of our patrons, volunteers, and artistic company are of the utmost importance.
This Reality Hit Us Very Hard...
After careful consideration we have concluded we unfortunately cannot bring you an in-person show this summer.
To be honest, without our summer musical in full gear, many of our usual programs — and ultimately our year-long impact — are in great jeopardy. (Keep reading to find out how you can make sure our future is brighter!)
However, we believe it’s still vitally important for us to bring an uplifting theatrical experience to your family.
That’s why our team is pleased to announce our final 2020 plans and a very unique theatrical experience…
Streamed directly to your living room, featuring an all-star talented cast, our free No One is Alone: Upper Room Theatre’s Celebration of Broadway event promises to bring your family the joy and award-winning artistry you’ve come to expect from us!
On July 24 at 7:30pm, join us as we take a virtual musical theater journey through each of the spectacular Broadway shows that have graced the Upper Room stage including Les Misérables, The Music Man, Beauty & the Beast, Godspell, Annie, Hello, Dolly!, The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Into the Woods, and more!
But that’s not all, because…

Upper Room Theatre Ministry
P.S. – Upper Room is a theatre with an impact far beyond our walls. Not only do we strive to create moving, professional-level theatrical experiences for you and your loved ones, but all of our proceeds go to supporting our 290+ youth and young adult programs across the ENTIRE year.
Our summer show is critically important to the work we do. Beyond having several heartwarming hours at the theater, when you support us, know that you’re helping us to make all our other programs and missions a reality, too!
