About Us

Founded in 2002, Upper Room Theatre is an award-winning, non-profit program that uses high caliber performing arts to inspire and uplift our audience, ensemble, and production team with a Christian spirit. We produce a large-scale musical every July (seen by nearly 4,000 people!) and an annual Winter Cabaret the first weekend of February. 

Upper Room is a theatre with an impact far beyond our walls. Not only do we strive to create moving, professional-level theatrical experiences for you and your loved ones, but all of our proceeds go to supporting our youth and young adult programs across the entire year.

Beyond having several heartwarming hours at the theater, know that when you see one of our shows, buy something at our concessions, or make a donation, you’re helping us make a big impact in our community, on our local missions, and even as teens go abroad to serve. Plus, those who audition, perform in our shows, and volunteer behind-the-scenes gain immense, intangible rewards working together for a impactful, important goal.

Our proceeds currently go toward supporting our youth & young adult ministries, and also toward supporting the theatrical renovations to our performing arts center. But in earlier years, our shows supported AAA Women for Choice Pro-Life Center, Birthright, Medical Missionaries, Gabriel Homes, Don Bosco Center and Youth Apostles.

So in addition to enjoying amazing entertainment and laughs, you should feel great knowing you’re making a tremendous impact for countless others! 

We have received recognition and many “best of” awards for our shows and performers, including BroadwayWorld’s “Best Community  Theatre of the Decade”, “Best Musical of the Decade”, “Best Streaming Production”, and many others for the entire Washington, DC area. Plus Prince William Arts Council recently honored us as the “Outstanding Arts Organization” in 2021.
